About Currency

Currency is the brainchild of Brooklyn based drummer, musician and programmer Rajeev Maddela, who specializes in applying the unique rhythmic phrasing found in bass-forward electronic music such as jungle, UK garage, dubstep and house. CURRENCY is a generative improvisational performance project exploring the spectrum of electronic music via Ableton Live, Max/MSP and MIDI percussion. The project aims to explore the concepts unveiled through mindfulness meditation, within a technologically enhanced, expressive, and improvisational environment. CURRENCY aims to highlight the quality of 'inspired spontaneity', facilitated by stimulating sound design and velocity-sensitive patch programming, resulting in spontaneous and dynamic performances.
