This site-specific work challenges how we hear and listen to our natural language. Creating space to change our focus from meaning to sound. Then The Tail was created for The Iron Factory, and made in collaboration with choreographer Lora Allen, sound designer Adam Vidiksis, and dancers Elizabeth Weinstein, Ashley Lippolis, CrystalNicole, and Andrea Lanzetti.
allendance is based in Philadelphia and has presented work throughout the US. The company has previously collaborated with filmmaker Adam Peditto, three-time Grammy Award winner Bob Lanzetti, and musicians Ross Pederson, Peter Adams, and currently Adam Vidiksis. allendance regularly teaches workshops and lectures at institutions including DeSales University, Wilson College, Coventry University, The University of Kansas, and The College of Charleston.

Some notes from the composer:
This work is based on the philosophies of Alan Watts, and is a study of language, interaction between musical gestures, and causality. I create musical gestures—often emphasized by loops of the text—that alter, reverse, and stagger their typical temporal relationship in musical structure. Snippets of music collide, form, and spin out from each other, but frequently the result of the interaction precedes or joins the causal event. Of course, if we apply Watts’s thinking to any typical musical process, then this occurs each time we hear a composition. By employing Watts’s ideas about time, I highlight and disorder the already-occurring causal relationships found in musical form.
