On The Road for 17527 Miles

About

In restless pursuit of a sense of purpose, four incurably young adults embark on a road trip across the country, using Jack Kerouac's On the Road as their map and epiphany as their destination. But while obsessively following Sal Paradise's footsteps as faithfully as their GPS will take them, the friends lose sight of the trip of their lives. Drawing from the iconography of the Beat generation, personal anecdotes, and the deconstructed GPS directions created by Gregor Weichbrodt of Kerouac's legendary journey, 14th Street presents an electroacoustic opera about growing up, striking out, and finding our place in this world.
